Port Sudan: A delegation from the South Sudanese Ministries of Finance and Petroleum visited Port Sudan to engage in discussions with the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum regarding unresolved matters concerning oil transportation. The South Sudanese delegation, led by their Minister of Finance and accompanied by the Minister of Petroleum, held a series of meetings with their Sudanese counterparts.
According to Sudan News Agency, these meetings are part of an annual dialogue between the two nations, focusing primarily on the transportation of South Sudan’s oil, for which Sudan serves as the official carrier. Dr. Mohi-Eddin Naeem, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, emphasized the historic partnership between Sudan and South Sudan in the oil sector, highlighting the collaboration in transporting and processing South Sudan’s crude oil.
Dr. Naeem described the meeting as successful, noting that it showcased a high-level vision and consensus that strengthens the bond between the two count
ries. The discussions concluded with significant resolutions on various outstanding issues related to oil transportation. The program was set to continue later that night, with the inclusion of other stakeholders.
He acknowledged the ministry’s leadership for their contributions in clarifying and addressing misconceptions, ensuring the discussions were productive. Dr. Naeem stressed the importance of professionalism in handling oil matters, especially due to the involvement of international partners. He remarked that the negotiations were conducted smoothly, considering the circumstances of both countries.
