Khartoum: The Sudanese Mineral Resources Company (SMRC) has achieved an unprecedented leap in the total mining revenues in the Red Sea State and its localities during the period from January to February 2025, reaching 12 billion pounds. This marks a significant increase compared to previous years, with revenues of 2.6 billion pounds in 2024, 1.2 billion pounds in 2023, and 0.5 billion pounds in 2022.
According to Sudan News Agency, SMRC explained that it deposited these revenues into the accounts of the state and its localities, demonstrating its commitment to fulfilling financial obligations to the Red Sea State. The company emphasized that this growth is a result of its efforts to regulate the sector, enhance transparency, and improve the investment environment.
The SMRC confirmed in a press statement that these measures are crucial for attracting more companies and increasing the contribution of mining to the national economy.
