Khartoum: A medical equipment convoy from Saudi Arabia has significantly impacted healthcare services in Khartoum, particularly at the Omdurman Teaching Hospital, where 300 surgical operations were completed in just 10 days. This remarkable feat was achieved following the recent provision of electricity from a generator donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia extended its support through the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action (KSrelief), in collaboration with the Kafaat Organization for Studies and Human Development. This initiative is part of a broader project aimed at rehabilitating Omdurman Teaching Hospital with essential medical equipment, enhancing services across intensive care and other medical divisions.
Dr. Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Amin, the Director General and Acting Minister of Health in Khartoum State, expressed profound gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince, and the Saudi Ambassador
for their invaluable support. Addressing attendees at the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Al-Amin praised the efforts of the national organization and the hospital’s Board of Trustees, acknowledging the contributions of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society’s volunteers.
The Acting Minister emphasized that the Saudi support would directly enhance the quality of medical services available to patients. He highlighted the hospital’s improvements in service availability and quality since the war, including the addition of MRI and endoscopy services and the restoration of CT scan services.
The Ministry of Health in Khartoum State has urged health workers displaced by the war to return, pledging to regularize conditions for the Ministry’s personnel and institutions. Dr. Al-Amin noted that the Ministry’s performance during the war was outstanding, with ongoing efforts to deliver quality services to citizens.

om Saudi Arabia facilitated the continuity of electricity supply, expediting operations and efficiently running all hospital divisions. He noted that the recent medical equipment received would significantly transform the medical services offered at the hospital.
