SAPA Reports Major Ramadan Humanitarian Impact

Khartoum: The Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) announced the results of its 2026 Ramadan humanitarian program supporting war-affected populations: The Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) revealed substantial outcomes from its 2026 Ramadan humanitarian initiative, aimed at assisting populations affected by conflict in several regions.

According to Sudan News Agency, the program was backed by a total budget of $1.25 million and provided cross-border humanitarian aid in Sudan, Chad, and Uganda. This assistance served as a critical support system for hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees.

The final report highlights that over 712,000 individuals received daily iftar meals, while more than 16,544 vulnerable individuals benefited from comprehensive food baskets. The operations in Sudan spanned nine states, including Khartoum, Darfur, Kordofan, White Nile, Kassala, and Al-Gadarif. These efforts utilized a dual model that combined community kitchens with food distribution.

The program extended its reach to refugees in Chad and Uganda, focusing particularly on persons with disabilities and survivors of violence. SAPA stressed that the program's success was largely attributed to strong collaboration with local authorities and partners. The efforts prioritized support for women-headed households, children, and the elderly. However, SAPA also issued a warning that humanitarian needs are continuing to escalate amid ongoing displacement.
