Shendi: The Wali of Red Sea State, Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Noor, underscored the vital role of media in promoting development, stability, and national progress. He praised the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) for providing accurate information and reflecting citizens' concerns amid current challenges.
According to Sudan News Agency, the remarks came during a meeting at the Wali's office with SUNA Director-General Ibrahim Musa Al-Bashir, attended by Red Sea State Guidance Sector Director Muna Abdullah, SUNA Foreign Relations Director Dr. Ismail Mohamed Hamid Al-Hakim, and SUNA Red Sea State representative Safaa Siddig Idris.
The Wali highlighted media's role in presenting a truthful image of the state, raising awareness of development initiatives, and supporting health, education, investment, and partnership efforts. He emphasized the need for strengthened collaboration between media outlets and the government for comprehensive coverage.
Discussions focused on supporting the SUNA office in Red Sea State with staff and resources, ensuring close coordination with government institutions, and leveraging SUNA forums to enhance government-citizen communication, counter misinformation, and cover development projects in infrastructure, health, education, and tourism, including cultural landmarks.
Lt. Gen. Noor also pledged to review plans for establishing a permanent SUNA headquarters in Red Sea State.
