Red Sea State Wali Engages with Turkish Ambassador to Enhance Cultural and Banking Ties

Port sudan: The Wali (Governor) of Red Sea State, Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, recently held a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan, Fateh Yildiz, at his office. This meeting is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and develop joint cooperation between the Red Sea State and Turkey. The session was also attended by the new Director of the Turkish Cultural Center, Mr. Amrullah Sirtaj Franjiz.

According to Sudan News Agency, tWali Mustafa Mohamed Nour expressed his support for the return of Turkish institutions in the state. He assured the provision of all necessary facilities to open a branch of the Cultural Center in Port Sudan, highlighting the importance of launching its educational and cultural activities promptly.

Ambassador Fateh Yildiz remarked that the discussion covered several important issues, underscoring the increasing Turkish influence in Port Sudan over the past eighteen months. The dialogue particularly emphasized the expansion of Turkish institutions in the region.

The meeting also reviewed the activities of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), which began its operations in early 2015, and the establishment of a Ziraat Bank branch in July 2015. Additionally, the resumption of Turkish Airlines flights via Port Sudan in August 2015 was discussed.

Further discussions focused on the Turkish 'Yunus Emre' Cultural Center, which started its activities in Khartoum on Al-Sittin Street in 2015. The center aims to resume its activities and expand its influence from Port Sudan.

In this context, Mr. Amrullah, the Director of the Cultural Center, emphasized the launch of a new phase of cultural initiatives in Sudan. This phase aims to introduce Turkish culture to the Sudanese people and bolster the fraternal ties between the two nations.
