Port sudan: The Wali (governor) of the Red Sea State, Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour, held a meeting in his office with a delegation from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The delegation was led by Mamadou Diane Balde, the Director of the Regional Office for East Africa, and included the Deputy Representative of the High Commissioner for Refugees in Sudan, Abubakar Talib Jalloh, as well as a Senior Policy Advisor from the Regional Office.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Director of the Regional Office for East Africa expressed gratitude towards the Wali and his administration for their efforts in hosting refugees and ensuring their well-being. During a press statement, Mr. Diane Balde emphasized the strong partnership between the Red Sea State government and UNHCR in addressing refugee needs.
The meeting, which took place at the Wali’s office, was attended by representatives from the Refugee Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions reportedly led to positive outcomes, reinforcing the collaborative efforts between the state and UNHCR in managing refugee affairs in the region.
