Qatar and Uzbekistan Chambers Focus on Boosting Economic Cooperation

Tashkent: Qatar Chamber (QC) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan explored ways to enhance economic cooperation and strengthen partnership between the private sectors of the two countries. During a meeting in Tashkent, the two sides discussed key areas of cooperation and partnership between the private sectors of both nations across several sectors, as well as the investment climate and incentives available in Qatar and Uzbekistan.

According to Qatar News Agency, QC Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidly emphasized the role of the private sector in promoting trade between the two countries through the establishment of joint ventures and investment projects. He noted the attractive investment climate and abundance of opportunities available in both countries. Al Obaidly also highlighted the importance of bilateral meetings between business leaders from both countries to explore cooperation in sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, technology, and innovation.

Al Obaidly affirmed Qatar's position as a hub for technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and other key technology sectors. Jamil Maksudi, Advisor to the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, reciprocally called on Qatari investors to capitalize on the investment opportunities across various sectors in Uzbekistan.

Maksudi mentioned Uzbekistan's plans to develop New Tashkent, a project aimed at attracting global companies specializing in smart city development, noting that Qatari companies could significantly contribute to this project given Qatar's expertise in smart cities. He also pointed out that innovation, tourism, and logistics sectors are key areas for cooperation, praising Qatar's progress in these fields.

During the meeting, the Uzbek side presented an overview of the national economy and investment incentives, highlighting opportunities in textiles, leather, construction materials, and chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
