Prime Minister Inaugurates Rehabilitated Banut Substation

Khartoum: The Prime Minister inspected the progress of work at the Banut substation on Thursday, following its complete rehabilitation. He was accompanied by the Energy Minister, Engineer Al-Mua'tasim Ibrahim, Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza, and the Director-General of the Sudan Electricity Holding Company, Engineer Abdullah Ahmed. The Prime Minister commended the workers in the electricity sector for their efforts in rehabilitating the substations.

According to Sudan News Agency, Engineer Abdullah Ahmed highlighted that the Soba and Banut substations would play a crucial role in stabilizing electricity distribution connected to major transformers, with a combined capacity of 250 MVA. He also mentioned that ongoing issues with electricity services are expected to be resolved soon, following the signing of contracts to import accessories for previously imported transformers.

Engineer Yasser Mohamed Al-Shazali, Director-General of the Electricity Transmission Company, reported that the cost of maintaining and rehabilitating the Banut substation reached $15 million. He noted that the station supplies and supports Banut, the Medical Corps Zone, Khartoum Oasis, and other regions. Engineer Al-Shazali expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the rehabilitation project, emphasizing the substations' importance in facilitating the voluntary return of citizens.
