Khartoum: Prime Minister Prof. Kamil Idris on Thursday met with the African Union (AU) Envoy to Sudan, Ambassador Mohamed Belaiche, in the presence of the Prime Minister's Adviser, Nizar Abdullah Mohamed.
According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Belaiche addressed the press following the meeting, noting that the discussions centered on advancing peace in Sudan and enhancing coordination to support efforts aimed at restoring stability and alleviating the humanitarian crises caused by the ongoing conflict.
Ambassador Belaiche emphasized the necessity for closer coordination in unifying various platforms and initiatives to foster a new phase of national consensus and enduring peace among all Sudanese factions. He expressed his appreciation for the "valuable ideas and insightful views" offered by the Prime Minister during their dialogue.
Furthermore, the AU envoy announced that senior African Union officials are scheduled to visit Sudan in the coming days. This visit aims to develop a shared vision for achieving peace swiftly, aligning with the aspirations of the Sudanese populace.
In his closing remarks, Ambassador Belaiche lauded Sudan's historic role on the continent, describing it as "a gateway that has always remained open to all Africans" and recognizing its longstanding contribution to goodwill and prosperity across Africa.
