Khartoum: Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris held a pivotal meeting on Tuesday with Minister of Federal Government and Rural Development Mohamed Kortikela Saleh, alongside the ministry's two undersecretaries. The gathering, also attended by Prime Minister's Adviser Nizar Abdullah Mohamed and Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Ali Mohamed Ali, took place in Khartoum.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Undersecretary of Rural Development revealed in a press statement that the meeting highlighted the critical role of rural development in the overall growth and progress of the country. Key topics included the encouragement of investment in rural areas, with a focus on agriculture and livestock. Additionally, the discussions emphasized the need to enhance the skills and capacities of women and youth, and to support handicrafts and small industries.
The meeting also concentrated on strengthening essential social services in rural communities, such as healthcare, education, capacity-building, and training initiatives. The Undersecretary further mentioned that the improvement of basic rural infrastructure, including electricity and water supplies, was a significant point of discussion, alongside efforts to advance the rural education system.
Environmental sustainability was another crucial topic, with discussions underscoring the importance of the responsible and efficient use of natural resources, aligning with broader goals for sustainable development in rural regions.
