Port Sudan: The Transitional Prime Minister, Dr. Kamil Idris, has underscored the importance of bolstering the state’s oversight role, with a particular focus on the Chamber of Auditor General. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and integrity in public administration.
According to Sudan News Agency, Prime Minister Idris visited the Auditor General Chamber’s headquarters in Port Sudan, where he assessed the progress of their work. During his visit, he engaged with Auditor General Salahuddin Mohamed Osman and the Chamber’s staff, who provided insights into the Chamber’s operations and responsibilities.
The Auditor General mentioned in press statements that their discussions covered various aspects related to financial auditing and the Chamber’s mandate. He highlighted the Chamber’s endeavors to maintain high levels of technical efficiency, accuracy, and independence to safeguard public funds and deter any potential misuse.
Additionally, the Auditor General informed the Prime Minister about the Chamber’s performance and financial reports from previous years, covering all state institutions and work conditions across different states. He emphasized the Chamber’s complete independence and impartiality, noting its top ranking in independence among Arab countries, second in Africa, and seventeenth globally, based on World Bank indicators.
