Khartoum: Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting youth and sports programs and pledged to double the sector's budget to enhance its role in national development and stability.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Idris made these remarks during the International Sports Day celebration organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He was joined by Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ahmed Adam Ahmed, Defense Minister Lieutenant General Hassan Dawoud Kabron, and Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza.
The Prime Minister directed the upgrading of Soba training grounds to international standards and called for the activation of all sports facilities inside and outside Sudan to foster sports development across the nation. He instructed state walis and regional governors to prevent encroachment on areas designated for sports and cultural activities.
The Minister of Youth and Sports emphasized that the event highlights the role of sports in promoting peace and sustainable development. He also underlined the message that Khartoum remains safe and stable, praising athletes for standing with the Armed Forces in the Battle for Dignity.
The program featured a walk from the Al-Mogran area to the Ministry of Youth and Sports headquarters in Omdurman, with participation from the Prime Minister, Defense Minister, Sports Minister, and Khartoum Wali.
