Prime Minister Briefed on Outcomes of Health Ministry’s Foreign Visits

Khartoum: Prime Minister Prof. Kamil Idris was briefed on the country's health situation during a meeting on Sunday with Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim and Undersecretary of the Ministry Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed. The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister's Adviser, Nizar Abdullah Mohamed, and Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Ali Mohamed Ali.According to Sudan News Agency, the Health Minister informed the Prime Minister about the outcomes of the ministry's recent overseas visits, which were focused on mobilizing resources and strengthening international partnerships. Dr. Ibrahim highlighted the approval of US$150 million to support health projects in Sudan following his visit to the United States. Additionally, discussions with the World Bank led to the approval of another US$150 million for the second phase of its health projects with the Ministry of Health.The minister also shared that the Ministry's Undersecretary visited Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, where agreements w ere signed to enhance cooperation in pharmaceutical security. These agreements are expected to bolster the country's pharmaceutical supply and security in the long term.Furthermore, Dr. Ibrahim briefed the Prime Minister on the progress made towards establishing Sudan Medical City, detailing the completed stages of the project and outlining future plans to develop additional medical cities nationwide. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to improve healthcare infrastructure and access across Sudan.In addition, Dr. Ibrahim extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to attend two major upcoming health events: the launch of the National Health Strategy 2026-2030 at the end of this month, and the inauguration of Naeima Emergency Hospital in White Nile State early next month. These events mark significant milestones in the country's ongoing efforts to enhance its healthcare system.
