Port sudan: Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has emphasized that Sudan’s most significant challenges are primarily external, necessitating focused efforts and effective programs to safeguard the nation’s foreign interests and address these threats. He highlighted the critical need for enhanced foreign relations management.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Idris chaired a coordination meeting at the Ministries Complex in Port Sudan. The meeting was attended by key figures including Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism Khalid Al-Aiser, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Idris Ismail Faraj Allah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance Abdullah Ibrahim, Director of the External Intelligence Service Maj. Gen. Abbas Mohamed Bakhit, and several ambassadors and leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Dr. Idris underscored the importance of precise coordination through sophisticated mechanisms to achieve effective external action, aiming to fill existing gaps. He stressed that the ‘Battle of Dignity’ requires robust support for external affairs.
During the session, the Prime Minister received an update on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with particular attention to administrative arrangements and workflow. The discussion also focused on developing a comprehensive strategy to support the Government of Hope’s reconstruction plans by prioritizing both internal and external issues.
Ambassadors present at the meeting highlighted urgent external issues that require immediate attention and proposed strategies to tackle them. They emphasized the necessity for proper coordination and diligent monitoring of external relations, outlining the main challenges confronting the ministry.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to devise an urgent short-term plan to tackle pressing external issues, advance significant projects, and enhance Sudan’s presence in international forums. This includes opening new avenues for Sudan’s international relations and external cooperation aligned with the nation’s goals.
A working group was established to manage external affairs, with Ambassador Idris Ismail Farajallah serving as its rapporteur. The meeting also recognized the importance of addressing Sudan’s media portrayal abroad and the role of foreign media in Sudanese matters, identifying this as one of the most significant challenges for the country.
