Damascus: President Ahmad al-Sharaa has issued Decree No. (188) of 2025, establishing the official holidays for workers in Syria under the Basic Law for State Workers, granting them holidays with full pay.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, the decree introduces two new holidays: Liberation Day on December 8 and Syrian Revolution Day on March 18. The list of official holidays for Syrian employees now includes Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Hijri New Year, and the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday. Additionally, New Year’s Day on January 1, Christmas for all Christians on December 25, and Mother’s Day on March 21 are included.
The decree also specifies Independence Day on April 17, Easter for both Eastern and Western Christian denominations, and Labor Day on May 1 as official holidays. These holidays ensure that workers subject to the Basic Law for State Workers are entitled to a day off with full pay on these occasions.
