Northern state: The Secretary-General of the Northern State Government, Mahjoub Mohamed Sidahmed, who is currently responsible for the duties of the State Wali, held a meeting with a joint delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Swiss Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt. This meeting was also attended by State Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid Dr. Wael Mohamed Sharif and Muna Salah-Eddin Nugud, the Representative of the Secretary of Social Affairs.
According to Sudan News Agency, the primary focus of the discussions was on the humanitarian issues affecting Northern State, specifically concerning the conditions faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the ongoing challenges in the region. The parties explored ways to enhance collaboration between the state government and international organizations to support communities in need.
State Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid Dr. Wael Mohamed Sharif noted that the Secretary-General was informed about the delegation's visit objectives, which included conducting a field assessment of IDPs arriving from Darfur and Kordofan. Additionally, the delegation evaluated the efforts made by the state government, local communities, and the Humanitarian Aid Commission, alongside its partners, in providing assistance at Al-Affadh Camp in Al-Dabba locality.
Dr. Sharif further mentioned that the meeting identified gaps and unmet needs at the camp and reaffirmed the commission's dedication to offering all necessary facilities to humanitarian organizations. This commitment aims to improve the humanitarian response and enhance the services provided to displaced persons.
