North Kordofan: The Agricultural Season Success Committee at the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources holds its second meeting. Eng. Ibrahim Hamid, Acting Minister of Production and Economic Resources of North Kordofan State, chaired today the second meeting of the Ministry’s Agricultural Season Success Committee, in the presence of directors of various departments. The Acting Minister reviewed the directives and recommendations of the Supreme Committee for the Success of the Agricultural Season in the State, which include providing and distributing seeds early, in addition to securing the agricultural season in coordination with the security committee to protect areas of security fragility and follow up on the initial preparations for the land in mechanized farming areas.
According to Sudan News Agency, the committee for ensuring the success of the agricultural season based its plan on evaluating the results of the agricultural survey, submitting indicators to the federal ministry, and identifying the targeted areas for cultivation this year, which total 7 million acres in the various localities of the state, focusing on the cultivation of grain crops, in addition to determining the actual needs for agricultural fuel, agricultural machinery maintenance and follow-up, and coordinating with financial institutions to participate in financing operations to ensure the success of the agricultural season.
The Minister of Production also pointed out the need to focus on agricultural and production associations and organize them to facilitate the flow of financing and various services that contribute to the success of the agricultural season, stressing the need to remove all obstacles that hinder the success of the agricultural season.
The attendees called for activating partnerships with organizations, strengthening coordination, and ensuring the provision of various seeds and agricultural equipment and their early distribution to targeted areas. They also called for increased guidance doses and training for farmers, and demanded the provision of some important vaccines for the livestock sector to prevent deadly epidemic diseases.
The attendees affirmed that all programs for ensuring a successful agricultural season are proceeding well as planned, including the provision of pesticides, the preparation of forest, orchard, and shade seedlings, and the sowing of pasture seeds. They also announced the beginning of initial preparations for agricultural operations in several localities in the state.
