Al-kormuk: Governor of Darfur Region Minni Arko Minnawi welcomed the visiting French parliamentary delegation to Sudan, headed by Christophe Macro, expressing his appreciation for the delegation's interest in assessing developments in the country firsthand.
According to Sudan News Agency, Minnawi spoke to reporters in Port Sudan on Saturday following his meeting with Christophe Macro. He mentioned that the visit comes within the framework of examining the scale of the suffering Sudan has witnessed over the recent period. Minnawi noted that the head of the delegation is among the voices closely concerned with Sudan in general, and particularly with Darfur and the issues of El-Fashir and El-Geneina, which are among the key files on which the French official has been actively engaged.
Minnawi also highlighted Macro's role in conveying the voices of victims within the French Parliament, saying his efforts had resonated widely across European parliamentary circles. He added that the delegation would continue its visit to Khartoum to hold meetings with officials and convey a realistic picture of the situation to France and Europe, expressing his gratitude to the delegation.
For his part, Christophe Macro, head of the French parliamentary delegation, said there are insufficient voices in Europe to adequately express the suffering of Sudan and Darfur. He stated he was deeply affected by the massacres in El-Fashir and El-Geneina, stressing his determination to convey those realities to the French Parliament and serve as a voice calling for condemnation of such violations.
