Minnawi Arrives in Zurich to Advance Sudan Dossier and Highlight Militia Crimes in Darfur

Zurich: Governor of the Darfur Region, Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM), and Head of the Political Bureau of the Democratic Bloc, Minni Arko Minnawi, arrived in Zurich on Friday to participate in a political symposium titled 'Sudan Between War and Peace: National Responsibility in the Context of International Interventions.'

According to Sudan News Agency, Minnawi was received at Zurich Airport by a number of official and human rights figures, including Mayor Felix Wyss, Head of the Human Rights Organization (MALF) Abdelbagi Asaad, and human rights researcher Khalid Salih. He was accompanied by the Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator and Director General of Social Welfare, Eng. Abdelbagi Mohammed Hamid, along with senior officials.

During the visit, Minnawi is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with Swiss parliamentarians, government officials, and representatives of international and human rights organizations. He will also travel to Geneva for meetings with UN and humanitarian bodies, in addition to consultations with Sudanese political forces and civil society organizations.

The visit aims to coordinate efforts and strengthen joint action to support the peace process in Sudan, while conveying an accurate account of the deteriorating humanitarian situation, particularly in the Darfur region, where civilians face grave violations and crimes against humanity.

The delegation also seeks to mobilize a responsible international position to protect civilians, support accountability and justice mechanisms, end impunity, and advance comprehensive political solutions to end the war and lay the foundations for sustainable peace.

Minnawi reaffirmed his commitment to advancing efforts to defend the rights of the Sudanese people and to working with regional and international partners to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that relieves the suffering of citizens and restores national security and stability.
