Khartoum: Lt. Gen. Hassan Daoud Kayan and Lt. Gen. Babiker Samra Mustafa have officially taken their oaths before the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, as the new Ministers of Defense and Interior, respectively.
According to Sudan News Agency, the oath-taking ceremony was attended by key figures, including the Transitional Prime Minister, Dr. Kamil Idris, the TSC Secretary-General, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Al-Gali Ali Youssef, and the Head of the Judiciary in the Red Sea State, who represented the Chief Justice.
Lt. Gen. Hassan Daoud Kayan, the newly sworn-in Minister of Defense, expressed his appreciation to the state leadership for their trust. He emphasized the need for unity to maintain Sudan’s territorial integrity amidst challenging times. Kayan committed to working towards security, stability, and peace, asserting his dedication to defending Sudan’s sovereignty. He assured the Sudanese people of his reliability in preserving national unity and emphasized the importance of the rule of law.
Kayan highlighted the bravery and sacrifices of the armed forces and popular resistance in defending the nation. He reiterated the need for peace, security, and stability to achieve development and pledged that the armed forces would protect the economy and national interests.
Lt. Gen. Babiker Samra Mustafa Ali, the new Minister of Interior, addressed the significant security challenges facing Sudan, affirming the state’s capability to overcome them. He praised the achievements of the armed and supporting forces in combating terrorist militias. Mustafa outlined plans for the Ministry’s role in ensuring security and service provision, mentioning the development of an emergency security plan to enforce state authority and law.
