Port sudan: The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Seif Al-Nasr Al-Tijani Haroun, engaged in discussions today with the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Sudan, Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, focusing on strengthening cooperation between Sudan and Saudi Arabia in the fields of infrastructure and transport. The dialogue aimed at supporting the reconstruction of facilities damaged by conflict.
According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions centered on fostering partnerships in maritime, land, and railway transport, as well as in ports, logistics zones, and civil aviation. Both parties explored the activation of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding, alongside the organization of joint ministerial committees to enhance collaboration.
Minister Seif Al-Nasr highlighted the significance of Saudi companies' participation in Sudan's reconstruction projects, particularly in the railway and port sectors. He emphasized the need for enhanced technical coordination and the establishment of joint committees to streamline project execution.
The meeting also underscored potential technical and investment collaboration with Saudi firms to revitalize Sudan Airways as part of the broader strategy to rebuild the national carrier. Both parties concurred on organizing a specialized workshop in February for Saudi firms interested in investing in Sudan's infrastructure and transport sectors. They also planned to prepare for forthcoming forums and conferences focused on reconstruction.
The Minister acknowledged Saudi Arabia's supportive stance on Sudan's unity and stability. Meanwhile, the Saudi Ambassador reiterated his country's commitment to supporting reconstruction efforts and promoting Saudi investments in Sudan's infrastructure and transport sectors.
