Port Sudan: Minister of Social Development Ahmed Adam Bakhit met Wednesday at the Ministries Complex in Portsudan with the African Development Bank (AfDB) representative, Mr. Darkourti, in the presence of the Undersecretary of Economic Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Mohamed Bashar.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister reviewed the Bank’s previous activities in Sudan and its capacity-building programs within poverty alleviation and rural women’s projects. He expressed gratitude towards the AfDB representative for the ongoing partnership with Sudan and emphasized the need to fortify and enhance this collaboration, considering the challenges currently facing Sudan.
The AfDB representative, Mr. Darkourti, elaborated on the nature of upcoming projects and the necessity to support families and individuals. He assured that at least 30% of the projects would be dedicated to women, youth, and vulnerable groups. Furthermore, he underscored the significance of small and medium-s
ized enterprises (SMEs) and discussed the projects approved for Sudan that are awaiting final details contingent on the prevailing circumstances.
