Cairo: Minister of Energy, Eng. Consultant Al-Mutassim Ibrahim Ahmed, engaged in discussions with the African Export-Import Bank regarding the financing of energy projects in Sudan. The bank is instrumental in funding several key projects, including the Port Sudan (Klanayeb) Power Plant and the Garri (3) Power Station.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting was held at the bank’s headquarters in Cairo. Present at the meeting were Mr. Elias Kakomia, the bank’s Director General of Risk, other bank officials, and leaders from the National Energy and Electricity Company and Sudan Electricity Company.
During the negotiations, the African Export-Import Bank reiterated its commitment to support Sudan’s crucial projects. The bank noted that the construction of the Klanayeb and Garri (3) power plants is advancing as per the agreed schedule.
The Minister of Energy assured the ministry’s commitment to resolving any challenges faced by these projects. He expressed appreciation for the bank’s efforts in sustaining the projects and emphasized the importance of leveraging the bank’s services, especially given Sudan’s full membership in the African Export-Import Bank.
