Addis ababa: Minister of Digital Transformation and Telecommunications, Engineer Ahmed Al-Dirdeeri Ghandour, met Friday with the Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Mr. Li Lixing, on the sidelines of the China-Africa Digital Cooperation Forum in Addis Ababa. The meeting aimed to bolster cooperation in telecommunications infrastructure between the two nations.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting included the Director of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Communications and focused on strengthening ties in telecommunications infrastructure. Minister Ghandour presented Sudan’s digital transformation plan and strategic projects during the discussions.
The dialogue highlighted the potential benefits of Sudan’s geographic location, emphasizing its role in regional projects that not only serve Sudan but also aid neighboring countries’ prosperity. Human capacity building was also a key topic, reinforcing Sudan’s position as an important partner in the regional digital transformation journey.
This engagement is part of Sudan’s broader efforts to align digital transformation with citizen services and enhance the national economy. The discussions underscored the significance of Sudan-China cooperation, with Sudan poised to gain from Chinese expertise in telecommunications infrastructure and human capacity development.
The minister and his delegation also held separate meetings with various key figures, including the Secretary-General of the African Union of Telecommunications, the Ethiopian Minister of Innovation and Technology, and the Director of the Africa Office at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Sudan is actively working to connect digital transformation efforts with citizen services and economic growth, demonstrating the government’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.
