Khartoum: Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Lamia Abdelgafar, was briefed on the overall service, health, and economic conditions of Al-Gadarif State, as well as the key issues and concerns facing the state, through reports presented by the general directors of the ministries. This came during her meeting on Wednesday with members of the Al-Gadarif State Government, chaired by the State Wali (governor), Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, and attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Dr. Graham Abdel-Gadir.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Lamia affirmed her ministry’s support for the efforts of Al-Gadarif State Government to complete ongoing projects and to advance the agricultural sector in both its plant and livestock components. She commended Al-Gadarif’s stance in supporting the Battle of Dignity and its role in hosting displaced persons (IDPs), stressing that the Al-Gadarif Water Project remains a top priority.
The Minister also outlined key programs and projects the ‘Government of Hope’ seeks to implement, including fostering national spirit, enhancing education-particularly technical and vocational education-and advancing the National Recovery Project. Minister of Cabinet Affairs affirmed the government’s commitment to improving economic indicators by focusing on industry, agriculture, mining, international cooperation, and partnerships for reconstruction.
For his part, Al-Gadarif State Wali reviewed the major challenges and impediments facing the people of the state, foremost among them the radical solution for Al-Gadarif’s water problem, the state’s contribution to combating smuggling and drug trafficking along its borders, the development of the border strip, the completion of rural electrification for border villages, and the completion of Wad Zayid Airport, in addition to securing the state’s full share of federal deductions.
