MFA Urges International Community to Support National Roadmap for Peace

Khartoum: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has called on the international community, particularly the African Union, the United Nations, and the League of Arab States, to support the roadmap proposed by state leadership. This roadmap represents a national consensus aimed at establishing peace and stability in the country and completing the transition tasks.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Sunday detailing that the state leadership, after extensive consultations with national and societal forces, has proposed a roadmap to prepare for the post-war period and resume a comprehensive political process leading to free and fair elections. The roadmap includes launching a comprehensive dialogue for all political and societal forces, welcoming those who adopt a national stance, and forming a government of independent national competencies to resume transitional tasks and help the state recover from the war’s consequences.

The roadmap also proposes making amendments to the constitutional document, gaining approval from national and societal forces, and selecting a civilian prime minister to run the state’s executive body without interference. Furthermore, the MFA emphasized the importance of freedom of opinion and political action, ensuring that no citizen is deprived of the right to obtain a passport.

Conditions for accepting a ceasefire, as outlined by the state leadership, include laying down weapons, withdrawing from civilian areas, lifting the siege on El-Fashir, and withdrawing from Khartoum, Kordofan, and Darfur.
