Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) stated that after facing significant defeats against the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and supporting forces, the Janjaweed RSF militia has turned to overt acts of terrorism. These acts include attacks on power stations, water facilities, hospitals, remote villages, internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, and civilian convoys.
According to Sudan News Agency, the MFA’s press statement on Tuesday detailed multiple drone strikes by the RSF militia on the Merowe power station and substations in Al-Shawak, Sinnar, Sennjah, Atbara, and Dongola. The MFA emphasized that these attacks aim to disrupt essential services by crippling electricity and water supplies to safer states, affecting hospitals, bakeries, food production, and public utilities, thereby exacerbating the suffering of the Sudanese people.
The statement further highlighted that the RSF militia’s actions are part of a broader genocidal strategy within the context of its aggression against the Sudanese people, supported by regional sponsors. The militia continues to commit atrocities in Gezira State and has intensified assaults on IDP camps in North Darfur, particularly the Abu Shok and Zamzam camps. Additionally, civilian infrastructure in El Fasher has been targeted, violating UN Security Council Resolution 2736 (2024).
The Government of Sudan has strongly condemned these actions and appealed to the international community, especially the United Nations, to take immediate and decisive action. The Government calls for the condemnation of these acts as violations of international humanitarian law, the Jeddah Declaration, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, urging effective measures to prevent further criminal acts by the RSF militia.
