Jeddah: In a briefing to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ali Youssef praised the strong positions expressed by the international community and friendly and sisterly countries. Dr. Youssef highlighted the recent statement issued by the Security Council on March 5, which rejected threats to Sudan’s unity and existing legitimacy. These threats emerged from the formation of a parallel authority by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its allies under the supervision of a regional sponsor.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Youssef addressed the extraordinary meeting of the OIC Council of Ministers, discussing the latest developments in Sudan. He emphasized the victories achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces, supported by the Sudanese people, and suggested that a significant victory was approaching.
Dr. Youssef reiterated Sudan’s support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. In his speech, he noted the centrality of the Palestinian cause and urged member states and the OIC Secretariat-General to confront attacks on the Palestinian people and resist calls for their displacement.
The meeting, held in Jeddah, was convened at the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Palestine, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The agenda focused on the ongoing Israeli assaults on Palestinians and their forced relocation. The Sudanese delegation, headed by Dr. Youssef, included Ambassador Dafallah Al-Hajj Ali Osman, Ambassador Anas Al-Tayib Al-Jilani, and First Secretary Youssef Siddig Abu Aqla.
