Khartoum: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the lack of international response to the crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hussein Al-Amin, expressed these concerns in a press statement on Tuesday following a briefing provided to diplomatic missions and United Nations organizations. Al-Amin criticized the London conference announced by the British government, asserting that it holds no relevance for Sudan and is unlikely to yield any beneficial outcomes.
The MFA Undersecretary elaborated that the government conveyed its position during the briefing, highlighting the lack of involvement of the legitimate stakeholders in Sudan, namely the Sudanese government and genuine representatives of the people, in the London meetings. These meetings, purportedly aimed at discussing Sudan’s future, are being held under the guise of humanitarian aid and ceasefire discussions, yet are attended by parties allegedly backing the war and supplying the militia with weapons, mercenaries, and drones. Al-Amin also addressed the Kenyan government’s continued hosting of RSF militia meetings, noting that ambassadors affirmed their nations’ support for Sudan and rejection of any attempts to establish a parallel government that could undermine Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity.
Additionally, the Undersecretary mentioned that Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Salwa Adam Binya detailed the government’s efforts to deliver aid to those affected by the conflict during the briefing. She emphasized the need for increased support, particularly for returnees from the Arab Republic of Egypt, who are arriving in large numbers amid deteriorated service facilities destroyed by the RSF militia in Khartoum and other cities.
Furthermore, the Undersecretary highlighted that diplomatic corps members emphasized the urgent requirement for support in environmental sanitation and the rehabilitation of health facilities, as well as water and electricity services.
