Khartoum: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) briefed diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited to Sudan on Saturday, attended by ambassadors, charg©s d’affaires, heads of diplomatic missions, and representatives of international organizations, on a number of issues of concern.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, highlighted victories by the Sudanese Armed Forces and supporting forces, congratulating Sudanese leadership and citizens. He addressed US sanctions against the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), claiming they aim to equate legitimate armed forces with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which Sudan rejects.
The MFA Undersecretary noted attacks on the Sudanese embassy and citizens in South Sudan, prompting government-organized return flights. He urged South Sudanese authorities to provide protection to Sudanese citizens and embassy staff. He briefed ambassadors on the TSC President’s tour in West Africa, which involved discussions on RSF rebellion and bilateral cooperation.
MFA Director-General of International Cooperation Directorate, Ambassador Anas Al-Tayib Al-Gailani, discussed relations with South Sudan, emphasizing good neighborly ties despite South Sudanese mercenaries joining the rebel militia. He mentioned an investigation into events in Al-Gezira State and raised concerns over unilateral decisions by South Sudan regarding Abyei, violating agreements and Security Council resolutions.
The Director-General of the Peace and Humanitarian Affairs Directorate detailed the humanitarian situation, accusing rebel militias of obstructing aid delivery. He acknowledged Sudanese government efforts to facilitate aid through crossings and airports, even to areas under the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, underscoring the government’s commitment to its citizens.
