Beijing: The Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism has announced an extension to the deadline for the registration of news websites and digital media platforms. Initially set to close earlier, the registration period will now continue for an additional two weeks, culminating on 15 June 2026.
According to Sudan News Agency, the extension follows the completion of the official registration form and is designed to give media institutions the opportunity to regularize their legal status in line with national regulations. This move is part of a broader effort by the Ministry, in collaboration with the National Press and Publications Council, to ensure that media outlets operate within the legal frameworks established by the country.
The Ministry has made registration forms readily available and is urging all media outlets to complete the process promptly. They have issued a warning that any failure to comply by the new deadline will lead to legal action under the applicable laws and regulations.
In a statement, the Ministry reiterated its commitment to fostering a professional and regulated media environment. This initiative aims to ensure responsible journalism while also safeguarding freedom of expression, highlighting the delicate balance the Ministry seeks to maintain in the media landscape.
