Port Sudan: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, emphasized Sudan’s commitment to enhancing security and stability while addressing challenges faced by regional and international organizations in delivering humanitarian aid.
According to Sudan News Agency, during a meeting held in his office, Lt. Gen. Jabir briefed the UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Mr. Edouard Beigbeder, on the current health, humanitarian, and service conditions in Sudan. The discussions highlighted the situation of displaced persons, particularly children. Lt. Gen. Jabir expressed concerns about the recruitment of children by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and underscored the government’s efforts to legitimize the status of children in displacement areas and implement rehabilitation and educational programs.
Mr. Beigbeder noted that the meeting focused on the conditions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sudan, emphasizing the continuation of education, nutrition programs, and health service delivery. The discussion also covered the distribution of humanitarian aid and provision of social services to IDPs. He highlighted the significance of child care during growth stages and outlined UNICEF’s plans and programs, stressing joint coordination to protect children.
Mr. Beigbeder also shared UNICEF’s strategic plan for 2026-2028, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to support every child in Sudan.
