Khartoum: The Roads and Bridges Authority of Khartoum State conducted an inspection of road rehabilitation operations currently underway. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to restore infrastructure and facilitate the return of citizens.
According to Sudan News Agency, the field team from the Roads, Bridges and Water Drainage Authority visited several sites, including Al-Ghaba Street and Al-Saha Street, to evaluate the progress of rehabilitation work. The team emphasized the urgency of implementing drainage solutions and noted that the earthworks phase is nearing completion, with plans to lay the final asphalt layer in the near future.
The inspection also revealed that the Roads Department has started supplying curbstone for installation on the central island of Al-Saha Street. Additionally, maintenance work on the lighting of the White Nile Bridge was part of the day's agenda.
In a related development, the team assessed the damage to the Environmental and Construction Laboratories Company's facility, reportedly caused by the Rapid Support Forces militia. The company is recognized as a key modern center in the state, performing essential testing and quality control for roadworks and contributing to environmental protection.
The authority highlighted that the center houses laboratories for soil and asphalt testing, concrete mix testing, and steel tensile testing. It operates under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in Khartoum State.
