Khartoum: The Director of Khartoum State Police, Lt. Gen. (Police) Amir Abdel-Moneim Fadl, hosted Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Dirif, at the Police Headquarters in Al-Mugran on Tuesday morning to discuss issues of mutual interest.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting focused on the significant role of the Khartoum State Police in maintaining security and stability. Dr. Dirif praised the police’s widespread presence, which contributes to upholding the state’s prestige and enforcing the rule of law. He emphasized the importance of protecting prosecution witnesses during trials involving collaborators with rebel Rapid Support Forces militias while ensuring legal support for defendants to guarantee due process.
Dr. Dirif also announced an amendment to the Cybercrime Act, particularly concerning hate speech crimes, and stressed the need for expedited prosecution. He lauded the police’s efforts in combating currency counterfeiting, highlighting notable achievements in this area.
Lt. Gen. (Police) Amir Fadl explained that the state police continue to maintain security and stability through coordinated security plans and the support of the Ministry of Interior and the Police Force Command. He noted the police’s swift resumption of duties following the liberation of the capital, with ongoing plans for fixed, mobile, and joint patrols, and the installation of surveillance cameras in vulnerable areas.
He announced the launch of pilot operations for the Emergency Police (999) and the implementation of 15 security cordons to tackle crime dens. He stressed the need for special prosecution offices and courts to expedite report adjudication.
Lt. Gen. Fadl concluded by stating that the state police had handed over more than 408 printing machines used for currency counterfeiting to the Central Bank of Sudan.
