Khartoum: The Wali of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza, alongside the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Ahmed Mudawi Musa, has reopened the Ali Abdul-Fattah female student dormitory in Omdurman. The reopening marks the completion of extensive rehabilitation efforts to provide a conducive living environment for students pursuing higher education in Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Khartoum State Student Sponsorship Fund spearheaded the restoration of the dormitory, including its buildings and reception hall. Ahmed Osman Hamza, who is also the Head of the Fund's Board of Trustees, lauded the fund's efforts in restoring the dormitories despite previous systematic damage aimed at hampering education. He assured that the dormitory is now fully equipped to accommodate both male and female students and committed to the continued rehabilitation of all dormitories across the state.
Professor Ahmed Mudawi Musa emphasized the critical role of dormitory housing in stabilizing students from various regions, thereby enhancing their academic performance. He reiterated the ministry's support for the Student Sponsorship Fund and highlighted that university studies in Khartoum are set to resume after a two-year halt due to the war. This reflects Sudan's resolve to confront challenges and rebuild the nation.
The Secretary-General of the Student Sponsorship Fund, Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Hussein, stated that rehabilitation efforts have been completed on several dormitories in Omdurman and Karari, with the Suad Tambal dormitory added in Khartoum locality. He mentioned ongoing work on Bahri University dormitories, underscoring the fund's dedication to restoring all student housing with both state and federal backing, despite previous systematic destruction and looting.
