Port sudan: Prime Minister Dr. Kamal Idris has underscored that enhancing cybersecurity was a necessity to ensure stability and protect state institutions. He called for integrating digital security concepts into government policies and development programs.
According to Sudan News Agency, this declaration came during the launch of the book “Cybersecurity” by its author, Maj. Gen. Police (Rtd) Dr. Suleiman Mustafa Muhammad, on Tuesday at Al-Rabwa Hotel in Port Sudan. The event saw the attendance of the Wali of Darfur Region, Commander Minni Arko Minawi, along with officials, experts in the field of technology and security, and representatives of security and academic institutions.
Dr. Kamal Idris highlighted the strategic importance of the book’s topic on cybersecurity, especially as the state focuses on digital transformation as part of a national strategy toward renaissance and development. He committed to distributing the book to all government institutions and universities.
Governor of Darfur Region, Commander Minni Arko Minawi, emphasized that protecting state institution data is the first line of defense for national security and sovereignty, asserting that cybersecurity is a collective responsibility. He advocated for developing capabilities, building secure infrastructure, enacting relevant laws, and obliging state institutions to implement them across both public and private sectors.
Minawi also underscored the importance of training, qualification, scientific research support, and engaging in international and regional partnerships to promote applied research initiatives.
During his review of the book’s axes, Major General Police (Rrd) Dr. Suleiman Mustafa emphasized the strategic objectives for achieving cybersecurity. He noted its role in enhancing stability, internal security, economic stability, national security, and addressing cyber threats, including cyber wars, terrorism, and organized crime.
Maj. Gen. Police (Rrd) Dr. Suleiman Mustafa recommended establishing a national authority for cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, fostering local and international cooperation, developing basic cybersecurity controls, raising awareness, and mandating institutions to create specialized cybersecurity units. He also stressed the need for curriculum development and legislation to address emerging challenges.
Engineer Dr. Al-Sadig Jamal-Eddin, Chairman of the Higher Committee, stated that the book serves as a reference by presenting a scientific vision of cybersecurity, analyzing challenges, and offering practical solutions. He highlighted that the book provides a strategic vision for national security within the Arab and Sudanese context.
