Geneva: Minister of Justice Dr. Moawia Osman Mohamed Khair met with the designated expert on the human rights situation in Sudan, Radhouane Nouicer, at the Palais des Nations. The meeting focused on opportunities for cooperation and coordination between both parties. Dr. Khair addressed Sudan’s observations and comments on the report presented at the 58th session, providing insights into the country’s human rights situation.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Khair updated on efforts to establish justice and rule of law in Sudan, emphasizing accountability, combating impunity, and protecting civilians. He highlighted violations by militias, such as the destruction and occupation of civil objects and citizens’ homes, forced displacement, and massacres against civilians, all of which were documented in the report.
Mr. Nouicer welcomed Sudan’s cooperation with human rights mechanisms and the return of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs staff to Sudan. He expressed hopes for stability and peace in the country. He also mentioned his upcoming visit to Sudan, supporting its unity and territorial integrity, and criticized any attempts to establish a parallel government, aligning with statements from the United Nations Secretary-General.
