Portsudan: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jabir has praised the team on the technological developments, particularly with regard to banking applications, despite the exceptional circumstances facing the country.
According to Sudan News Agency, Jabir addressed the second e-payment workshop organized by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning at the Ministries Complex in Portsudan on Sunday. He emphasized that the individual represents 80% of the process and noted the provision of equipment and training. Jabir pledged to train all those who need training to assist with the project, in addition to upgrading the work environment.
TSC Member emphasized that the project has several advantages and is being managed in an integrated manner. He pointed out that the committee has addressed all obstacles and resolved problems, and that the project imposes a heavy burden on institutional leaderships. He called on all those with the competence to address the problems affecting the country to do so.
Jabir noted the success of the currency exchange process through the opening of accounts and called for a shift toward e-government through guidance, training, consultation, and workshops. He noted that the project is ongoing to improve.
For his part, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim said that the system achieves transparency, reduces procedures everywhere, and contributes to combating corruption, in addition to increasing state revenues. He pointed out that the system provides greater service to citizens and reduces cash-borne diseases.
The Ministry of Finance reviewed the e-payment pilot project at the workshop, highlighting its advantages, goals, and challenges. The pilot began in 2015 with a partial rollout and has since expanded to all ministries and institutions, alongside a review of the project’s partners. The Central Bank of Sudan also reviewed the payment system at the Central Bank, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Transformation, and the Bank of Khartoum.
