Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jabir Ibrahim, expressed his commitment to backing both official and popular initiatives aimed at overcoming the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in West Kordofan. This announcement followed his meeting with the Wali (governor) of West Kordofan State, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Mohamed Adam Mohamed Gayid.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting provided Jabir with a comprehensive briefing on the strategies being implemented by the state government and local resistance groups to aid the armed forces. These efforts aim to rid the cities and villages in West Kordofan of the RSF militia presence. TSC Member Jabir assured that the leadership is closely monitoring the ongoing operations in Kordofan, as well as the deployment of mobile forces to Darfur to confront the rebel militia, with the broader goal of reclaiming the regions of Kordofan and Darfur to establish peace.
Maj. Gen. Mohamed Adam Mohamed Gayid highlighted the security and humanitarian challenges currently facing West Kordofan. He discussed the adverse effects of the conflict on local citizens and the complex living conditions that necessitate careful attention and the provision of essential resources. He acknowledged the vital role played by the state government and the Popular Mobilization and Resistance Committee in supporting the armed forces’ objectives in the Battle of Dignity. He emphasized the community’s support for the armed forces in achieving victories and restoring stability and security to the region.
