Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jabir, chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Currency Exchange and Replacement, with the presence of Minister of Finance Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim and committee members.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting focused on the implementation of assignments and networking between banking applications, as well as the progress of the Supervisory Committee of the Electronic Payment Emergency Chamber. The participants were reassured that steps are being taken to monitor and prevent trading in local currency for money transfers by relevant authorities.
The committee approved the Auditor General’s report on the revenues and expenditures of the Zakat Chamber. They reviewed procedures for listing imported vehicles, unloading goods from ships at ports, and the circulation of gold and animal resources exports, emphasizing adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
The meeting highlighted the preparation of working papers for a virtual workshop involving state walis and state finance ministers on the electronic payment and collection system. It also stressed the need for coordination between the Ministry of Commerce offices in certain states and the Federal Ministry of Commerce to avoid duplication of fees.
The committee was reassured about measures to address issues related to ship unloading and employee demands. The meeting commended the integration of banking applications and the progress of the “Esali” project in payment and information, acknowledging all institutions involved in electronic payment and financial inclusion.
