Khartoum: The Early Warning Unit of the General Directorate for Nile Water Affairs at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation issued a red alert on Saturday, signaling extreme flood danger for White Nile, Khartoum, and River Nile states. The alert came in response to rising inflows from the Blue Nile and White Nile.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Directorate stated that flooding is expected to begin at 6:00 AM on Saturday and may continue until 10:00 PM on Monday. Citizens are warned that water levels could inundate fields and valleys, and are urged to move crops, fodder, and livestock to higher ground.
Authorities also advised securing important documents, food, water, and emergency supplies in waterproof containers. Citizens are also cautioned to avoid floodwaters, which may carry the risk of electrocution if they come into contact with power lines.
The Directorate stressed the importance of following official instructions promptly, including evacuation orders, to ensure public safety.
