Iraq Inks Over 1-Billion-USD Contracts with IFC for Economic Growth

Pretoria: Iraq signed contracts worth more than one billion U.S. dollars with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), an affiliate of the World Bank Group. These agreements focus on energy, infrastructure, and real estate projects, aiming to bolster Iraq’s economy and attract further investment.

According to Nam News Network, the signing ceremony took place in Baghdad, commemorating the 20th anniversary of IFC’s operations in Iraq. Al-Sudani acknowledged the significant role of Iraq’s private sector in reconstruction and development, despite facing challenges such as bureaucracy, corruption, and security issues. He emphasized the government’s initiatives to enhance the business environment, noting that Arab and foreign investments have reached 100 billion dollars in licenses and active projects.
