Port sudan: Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. (Police) Babiker Samra Mustafa, chaired a meeting of the National Committee for Civilian Protection on Thursday in Port Sudan, attended by committee members from competent authorities.
According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Kamal Bashir, the committee’s rapporteur, explained that the meeting reviewed the axes of the 2025 quarterly report on civilian protection, which was submitted through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, who then submitted it to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council.
Ambassador Bashir added that the report is part of the implementation of the National Plan for Civilian Protection, which highlights the role and efforts of the state in protecting civilians. He noted that the meeting also reviewed the hubs of the operational deployment of regular forces through the widespread deployment of police forces in all areas, in addition to strengthening the humanitarian role and voluntary return, as well as addressing violence against women, peaceful coexistence, the state’s provision of essential services, and reconstruction.
He explained that the report reflects the government’s efforts to improve the humanitarian situation and provide appropriate humanitarian conditions for the voluntary return of civilians to their areas, stressing that the committee has begun preparing the second-quarter report and will submit it through Sudan’s permanent representative to the United Nations.
