Baku: Minister of Human Resources Development and Social Welfare, Moatassim Ahmed Salih, headed Sudan’s delegation to the first meeting of the Executive Council of the Labour Centre of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held Tuesday in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, with the participation of representatives of member states and specialized experts. The meeting discussed a number of strategic issues related to the future of labour and employment in the Islamic world.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting reviewed the Centre’s interim and financial reports, as well as the agenda of its meetings and activities until 2026. Discussions also covered financial policies, the proposed organizational structure, and programs falling under the OIC’s framework. Council members also addressed the operational budget of the Centre for 2026-2028 and mechanisms for resource allocation, in addition to the general strategy for the coming years.
The deliberations further included a proposal to establish an Innovation and Employment Support Fund, as well as mechanisms for coordinating and managing the OIC Network for Employment Services and Occupational Safety, along with the adoption of reports of specialized technical committees. The Minister is expected to deliver Sudan’s statement before the Executive Council on Wednesday.
The Council will conclude its activities by issuing final recommendations to be submitted to the second General Assembly of the OIC Labour Centre for adoption and necessary action. The Sudanese delegation includes, in addition to the Minister, Sudan’s Ambassador to Baku, Anas Al-Tayib; Director General of Employment and Migration, Alawiya Abdullah Al-Douma, and First Secretary, Mustafa Abdel-Haleem.
