Port Sudan: As part of the ongoing preparations for the admission of the deferred batch of Sudanese Certificate students for the year 2023, the Admissions Committee at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research held a meeting on Tuesday at the ministry’s temporary office in Port Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting was chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Professor Mohamed Hassan Dahab, with participation of the vice-chancellors of public and private universities, along with directors of departments within the ministry.
The meeting touched on the competitive rates for admission of deferred Sudanese Certificate students and reviewed the planned numbers for general admission and the planned numbers for state admission, based on the results of the 2023 Sudanese Certificate.
The meeting also deliberated on the arrangements for the admission of Sudanese students who hold Arab and foreign certificates. A number of university vice-chancellors presented proposals aimed at improving admission procedures for the deferred batch.
The committee stressed the need to review the numbers planned for general admission in public universities, recommending that state admission be maintained in accordance with the established plan. Meanwhile, the Ministry reiterated its commitment to continuing to accept students holding Sudanese, Arab, and foreign certificates from previous years, in the next admission cycles following the general admission.
During the meeting, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education also stressed the importance of implementing the Prime Minister’s directives regarding the gradual return of higher education institutions to Khartoum State. The meeting also approved the formation of a specialized committee to document the events of the War of Dignity, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to preserve the national memory.
