Khartoum: The High Committee for Coordination with the United Nations, chaired by Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jabir, Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has directed that media priority be given to the ongoing humanitarian crises in El-Fashir and Kadugli. These crises have been exacerbated by sieges imposed by the Rapid Support Forces militia on El-Fashir and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North on Kadugli.
According to Sudan News Agency, during the regular meeting held on Monday, new members of the committee were briefed on its tasks and the rationale behind its establishment. Discussions also centered around the preparations for the 60th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva and arrangements for Sudan’s participation in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The committee emphasized the importance of coordination among all relevant parties to ensure the success of its efforts in addressing the humanitarian challenges in the affected regions.
