Port sudan: In a meeting that signifies the strong ties between Sudan and China, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, welcomed Mr. Qiang Shibang Hawa, the Charg© d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sudan, along with his delegation, at his office in Port Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions focused on enhancing health cooperation between the two nations, with particular emphasis on the return of the Chinese medical mission and the resumption of operations at Chinese hospitals in Sudan. Dr. Ibrahim expressed gratitude for China’s support, particularly during the wartime, and lauded China’s commitment to the Sudanese health sector through the provision of essential medicines, medical supplies, and the execution of various health projects.
Dr. Ibrahim also emphasized Sudan’s eagerness to broaden cooperation with China, especially in the health sector, highlighting the significance of the Chinese Friendship, Abu Ushar, Damazin, and Omdurman Hospitals as central components of this collaboration under a joint protocol. The meeting further explored training opportunities in China and the simplification of procedural requirements for trainees in various specialties.
Additionally, the restoration of pharmaceutical manufacturing and the rehabilitation of the Shanghai Pharmaceutical Factory, a joint venture between China and Sudan, were key topics of discussion. The meeting underscored China’s crucial support during the reconstruction phase, with hopes for improved security and the full restoration of medical services, including the complete return of the Chinese medical mission.
Mr. Qiang Shibang reiterated China’s concern for the current situation in Sudan and affirmed ongoing support and assistance. He expressed a commitment to expanding cooperation to include medical technology and reconstruction projects post-war, emphasizing that the relationship between China and Sudan extends beyond cooperation to a genuine and robust partnership.
