Port sudan: The Ministry of Health launched in Port Sudan on Tuesday the first batch of medicine shipments provided by Qatar Charity, which contained 25 tons of medicines.
According to Sudan News Agency, the shipments are part of the response project to provide medicines and medical supplies. This aid is part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing efforts to support and assist the health sector in Sudan.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, praised Qatar’s support for the health sector, describing it as timely. Dr. Haitham underlined the Ministry of Health’s commitment to providing health services in all regions, noting the importance of joint and effective coordination with health and humanitarian partners in Sudan to provide support and deliver aid.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health noted Qatar Charity’s support and its urgent response in providing kidney and emergency medicines earlier, stressing that the State of Qatar has been present with its support from the beginning.
For his part, the representative of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC), Ahmed Mohamed Osman, expressed his appreciation for Qatar Charity’s continued humanitarian contributions and initiatives, announcing HAC readiness to cooperate, coordinate, and provide all forms of support to relevant authorities so that medical aid reaches those in need in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, Acting Director of Qatar Charity’s Office in Sudan, Tariq Mohieddin, stated that the medicine shipments launched on Tuesday were part of Qatar Charity’s contributions to strengthening the health system in Sudan. He pointed to the interventions implemented by the charity during the recent period, including the provision of 14 dialysis machines and a water purification unit, referring to the organization’s plans to implement in the coming days to provide incubators and phototherapy devices, along with free mobile clinics in Gezira and Al-Gadarif states.
Mohieddin unveiled that Qatar Charity has begun the necessary arrangements to provide solar energy to cover vital divisions in a number of health institutions across the states, explaining that the second phase of support will be launched in Khartoum State soon. Mohieddin praised the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the Humanitarian Aid Commission, noting the positive relationship with OCHA, expressing his aspiration for a constructive partnership with the World Health Organization.
