Port sudan: During a meeting between the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, and the State Minister at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Dr. Suleima Ishaq Mohamed, it was assured that women’s health issues and their right to life and healthcare are among the priorities of the Ministry of Health, along with the continued improvement of maternal and child health services.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting, which took place at the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health’s office in Port Sudan, led to an agreement between the two ministries to establish a reference center, proposed to be located in Al-Gezira State. This center aims to provide integrated and exemplary health services, including health, community, and psychological services targeting women survivors and reproductive health.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health expressed his appreciation for the State Minister’s efforts over the past period, praising the role of Sudanese women in facing challenges. He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to providing basic health care and psychological support to affected groups, especially after the violations women were subjected to by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias.
For her part, the State Minister commended the Ministry of Health’s efforts in supporting mothers and children, stressing that the reference center will be the fruit of a tripartite partnership between her ministry, the Ministry of Health, and the United Nations Development Programme. The center aims to provide health and legal services, along with psychological support, to women.
